When you think about living a healthy life, what comes to mind? For many, it might involve eating nutritious meals, staying physically active, or managing stress. These are undoubtedly crucial aspects of health, but there is a deeper, often overlooked dimension: the connection between spiritual, emotional, and mental wellness. This is where Ruqya can become a transformative pillar in your journey toward holistic well-being.

Why Ruqya Should Be a Core Pillar of Wellness
Ruqya is more than a remedy for spiritual ailments or protection against sihr (black magic) and the evil eye. It is a divinely guided practice rooted in the Quran and Sunnah, offering immense potential to rejuvenate the soul, cleanse the heart, and stabilize the mind.
Allah (SWT) states in the Quran:
“And We send down of the Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe…” (Surah Al-Isra, 17:82).
The healing mentioned here is not limited to physical ailments but extends to the soul and mind, emphasizing the comprehensive scope of Ruqya. By incorporating Ruqya into your daily life, you establish a spiritual anchor that nurtures your overall health.
The Need for Goal-Setting in Ruqya Practices
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
"Verily, Allah loves that when anyone of you does something, he does it with excellence." (Sahih Muslim)
Setting goals allows you to approach Ruqya with purpose, consistency, and excellence. Without clear aspirations, it becomes easy to let the practice fade into the background of life’s distractions. Here are some powerful goals you can set to integrate Ruqya as a core element of your holistic health plan:
Daily Spiritual Cleansing: Dedicate time every day to recite protective supplications like Ayat Al-Kursi (2:255) and the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah. These recitations not only fortify your spiritual defenses but also bring tranquility to your heart.
Emotional Resilience Through Dhikr: Regularly engage in the remembrance of Allah, such as reciting SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, and Allahu Akbar. Dhikr has been shown to alleviate anxiety and increase inner peace.
Mental Clarity Through Quranic Recitation: Select a portion of the Quran to recite daily, with the intention of healing and reflection. Let its words wash over your mind, bringing clarity and focus.
Creating a Ruqya Routine for Holistic Healing
Building a Ruqya routine doesn’t have to be daunting. It’s about aligning small, consistent habits with your broader aspirations. Here is a simple, yet powerful, routine you can adopt:
Morning Protection: Begin your day with the morning Adhkar (remembrances) and recite the Ruqya verses for protection. This shields you from harm and sets a positive tone for the day.
Midday Reflection: Take a few minutes during your lunch break to pause and recite Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas three times. Use this time to realign your heart and mind with your goals.
Evening Renewal: As you prepare for sleep, recite the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah and blow into your hands, wiping them over your body as the Prophet (peace be upon him) would do. This practice cleanses your spirit and prepares you for restful sleep.
